The control of DSD purchases and receipts represents a well-known opportunity to positively impact a store’s bottom-line. The DSD subsystem that is an integral part of Storewin provides the tools necessary to ensure retailers maximize their profits while minimizing loss due to invalid product codes, inaccurate pricing, missed vendors deals and allowances, unauthorized deliveries and invoice extension errors. Compared to manual processes, the DSD subsystem lessens the labor-intensive nature of DSD receiving through the introduction of Exception Work lists and the automated interfaces with Accounts Payable software.

    viPOS Overview

viPOS is installed in thousands of lanes across the nation, and allows small to medium size retailers to take advantage of product-scanning technology. This helps to build the foundation for implementing a wide range of information-intensive programs crucial for succeeding in today’s supermarket business environment. viPOS delivers a point-of-sale scanning alternative with a price point attractive to any sized grocery retailer.

A reliable and scalable point-of-sale application, viPOS is installed in configurations ranging from one to over 32 lanes. Architecturally, the system runs on Windows across a TCP/IP Ethernet LAN. viPOS allows each lane to operate independently, ensuring no single point of failure. Each lane contains the full PLU file and only communicates to the POS server at the end of a transaction. This allows the front-end terminals to function even if the server is not available – by scanning from a local PLU file and temporarily storing all transactions and electronic journal information to the local disk until the server comes back online. When the server becomes available, all stored transactions are forwarded to the server to re-synchronize.
